Janice Bradshaw

My work is influenced by the British coastline and countryside
and its ever-changing weather and palette of colour. To reflect
this I layer ground glass, metals and enamels in my work to
achieve a more organic feel. I include organic hedgerow
material.
I make beach casts and shell casts and clay tiles using shells
and seaweed to create added texture in pieces.
My main collections are my ‘coastal’ pieces: influenced by the variety of colours and textures in the
sea, sky and sand and where the countryside comes right down to the sea, ‘woodland’ pieces:
influenced by the changing of the woodland floor and canopy through the seasons, and my
‘connections’ pieces: where I indulge my love of using metals in my work. The metals react with each
other in the heat of the kiln, no matter how slight their connection, changing each other forever, just
as we humans do.
I live and work in St Anne’s on Sea on the Fylde coast in Lancashire and enjoy being able to paddle
on the beach whenever I want to.
